This consists of a series of children’s encyclopaedia and also a series of the Kings of England. There are several local and family history publications and various periodicals.

First Floor Rooms, (Reception Room) Displays & Facilities

Children’s Corner

 

This consists of a table to keep young children interested while the parents/guardians are looking round the Centre. The item includes books, a

typewriter, scales, etc. as well as a desk for them to work at. There is also a small manikin dressed as a schoolboy.                                      

Pershore Abbey Display

 

A most interesting detailed matchstick model of the Abbey, which has been presented to the Centre. In addition, there are some early pictures of the Abbey on the adjacent wall together with a commemorative tea-towel. In the doorway, there is an interesting picture of Benedictine monks fishing in the old Pond in the Abbey Grounds                                     

Sales Counter

 

This is complete with books written by local authors, Worcestershire County tapes and a variety of items and cards for sale. There is also a donations box and visitors’ book, as well as brochures describing centre contents.

 

Model Carriages

 

A major collection of hand-made carts and carriages dating back to the days of horse-drawn vehicles, a most valuable and unique collection.

 

Wall Display - Pershore Schools

 

Each of the schools in the town, past and present, is represented including research on the old National School in Defford Road, 1840 – 1940. There is also a photograph taken in the grounds of the Old Infant School, dated 1939, where many residents in the town can recognise themselves. There are descriptions and photographs identified with Pershore High School and the primary schools, Cherry Orchard, Abbey Parkand Holy Redeemer.

                                     

Wall Display - Pershore Embroidery Screen & Commemorative Plaques

Plaques: There are three of these commemorative plaques: Walter Bramford Memorial Plaque, a Headmaster at the National School and later at the Junior school, now Abbey Park. Several past dignitaries of the town are recognised on this Board of Honour. The Win Summerton Memorial Board is out of respect for her contributions to the town and particularly to the creation of the first Public Swimming Pool in the town, but also her contribution to the Heritage and History Society. Finally, there is a plaque identifying past members of Pershore Town Council.
